As temperatures rise, Brazil ramps up efforts to combat dengue outbreaks
Brazil marked the start of 2024 by recording a doubling in cases of dengue, the mosquito-borne illness whose symptoms can be incapacitating. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Brazil had the highest number of dengue cases in the world in 2023, accounting for 2.9 million out of 5 million registered cases.
